Blackjack may seem like a pretty straightforward game that encompasses getting to twenty one or as high as possible without going over, but there are multiple strategies which are used in order to increase the potential for winning. Here are some strategies for beginners to the game that can help the beginner to grasp the strategies associated with playing blackjack.
Blackjack strategies always depend on the cards which have already been dealt to the player, as well as the cards that have already been dealt to the dealer. The cards that have been dealt face up can determine the actions which should be taken by the player and the specific strategies which should come into play.
Here are some basic strategies that you can use, based on the total of the cards that have been dealt to the player. Use these strategies to increase your chances of winning at blackjack.
If the total is eight and under the player should always hit. If the cards that are dealt have a total of nine than the player should double down, it is also recommended to double down (meaning double the bet) if the player has a hand that totals ten or eleven.
If faced with a hand of twelve, the player should stay if the dealer has a low hand that is between four and six. Otherwise, it may be beneficial to hit.
There are some totals created by the two cards in which the player should stand, as this yields better odds than the player hitting on these cards. The totals that the player should stand automatically include seventeen, eighteen, nineteen and twenty.
In the case that you are faced with a hand that has been dealt that totals two created from two aces the player should always split the hand. This enables the player to double their chances of getting blackjack from the two hands. The same rule is applied to eights for beginners playing blackjack; eights should always be split to ensure the best chances of winning can be obtained.
